A Rotation Diet

A rotation diet works on the principle that it takes five days for traces of a food to be removed from the body. Eating a food type only every five days means that:

  • the immune system has a chance to recover by not being subjected to the same allergens everyday.
  • when food is re-introduced after five days an adverse re-action will indicate that your body is intolerant to that substance.

Many people with candida know that they cannot have yeast and sugar foods but they may be sensitive to other foods also. This is a simple way to find out which foods you should avoid. The problem is that remembering which foods you have eaten on certain days without a lot of note taking is almost imposssible. Some books on Roatation Diets recommend set menus to follow but these are too restrictive and they are not designed for people with candida. To attempt to follow them you have to make massive alterations and it then becomes unmanageable. When I designed the Candida Rotation Chart I included a large variety of foods that the majority of people can eat. If there are any that you know that you cannot eat leave them out. I have provided empty boxes for you to write in you own choices. I have put a food type name rather than a specific ingredient to prevent repetition of a food group by mistake. For example the square labelled wheat will cover pasta, pastry, shredded wheat, etc. and non of these should be repeated in five days.

How to use the chart

  1. Firstly print out the chart (Colour Rotation Chart or Black & White in PDF format). What is PDF?
  2. Stick the chart inside your cupboard or on your fridge
  3. Record the foods that you eat by either a) use colour highlighters and colour each box as you use it. A key has been provided for you to colour in the box so you know which colour represents which day. Start again on the fifth day or use eight colours to get a pictue of the whole week. or b) Write in the first letter of the day that you eat a food in the box after the square. Using the key provided you can see which day you can eat that food again and plan your menus accordingly.
