Hi Pam,

Question: My wife has started a Candida Diet. Just a few questions

  1. Taking Salt
  2. Exercise
  3. How much water and when
  4. Ready made currys
  5. Which foods are the worst a total avoidence
  6. Are there any need to take zinc citrate tablets

    Thank you

Answer:

  1. Salt is not a problem within reason
  2. Again it is not relevant to the diet but exercise can help to reduce blood sugar.
  3. Follow normal healthy protocols for water
  4. Most curries are not a problem because they contain spices which themselves are antifungal and boost the immune system. However, home made is always better, have a look at the recipes section
  5. It depands on your problems - new protocol exist now which you will find on the website Top

Question: Good day Pam,

Hello, I was reading your recipe and it is excellent, but for some reason it seems to me you either left out the raising agent i.e. baking powder or you used self rising flour with the raising agent in it i.e. leaven in the flour. Or maybe that is how you cook your roti. I cook roti here Thanks

Answer: Yes, that is the way they do it in India. Roti are known as flat breads for this reason. They are ideal for people who have a problem with yeast. Top

Hello Pam

Just wanted to say that we tried your chicken and lamb dishes over the weekend and they were delicious…It helps to know that they can taste so good on such a strict diet. Thanks again Top

Questions: Can you please tell me if RYVITA is OK?? Some diets say no rye, but I sure look forward to a cracker or two per day. It's on your list of "enjoy the following foods". Much thanks,

Answer: Which diet say No to Rye? I have not heard of this, However, my clients eat Ryvita. Some Ryvita has malt on it which is sugar so always check the labels. Top

Question: You don't know me but I am a woman who has been suffering from yeast infections for many years. At present, I am feeling very itchy and uncomfortable. I came across your website and printed out the Treatments and Risk factors for problems with Candida and I scored a 59. I love sweets and have a very difficult time abstaining from them. I live in the United States in the city of White Plains, New York and would like to know if you or someone else could help me get rid of this nasty yeast in my body?

Answer: Take a look at the new protocols that are coming up on the website. I can add that as you start cutting out the excess sugars in your diet it gets easier because you loose your sweet tooth. You may like to find a nutritionist in your area to help you. Top

Weight Related Questions:

Question: I have been on the candida diet now for a good 2 months and some of my symptoms are starting to go away finally which is great. I am now back into fitness now I feel well enough and was wondering if you know of any "protein supplements" that are ok for candida suffer's to have. If you know of any please let me know thanks alot

Answer: Sorry I have never used these with my clients so am unable to recommend any, see seperate question on weight gain below. Top

Question: Hi Pam,

I have recently discovered that I have Candida. The diet that is advised contains very little carbohydrates. I would like to know if there are any alternatives that you can advise me of to help GAIN weight while I am on the candida diet. Your assistance is appreciated. Regards

Answer: I am not sure why your diet has very little carbohydrate, although it breaks down to sugar it is the type of carbohydrate that is the problem e.g. brown rice, brown bread etc. is better than white. To help you gain weight try taking two table spoons of good quality Omega 3 oil like Udos or Hemp oil. Sprinkle on you salad or porridge.

Although people loose weight at first, experience has shown me that as candida improves most people resume their ideal weight. Top

Alcohol:

Question: I have been researching many sites on the internet searching for the reason why all alcohol is prohibited on the candida diet. I wonder if alchol like vodka wouldn't be allowed since it contains no sugar or gluten value and is not fermented. could you enlighten me on this issue please. your time is greatly appreciated.

Answer: Alcohol is stimulant and like cafine will increase your blood sugar, keep it for special occassions. No beer wine or whisky but vodka and gin are ok provided they are with sugar free mixers. Top

Treatment:

Question: Hi Pam

I found some very interesting information on your web site. I just want to ask re the diet - how long should you do the diet for? Is it a forever thing or a matter of weeks or months? Thanks

Answer: It took TWO years for me because it was a learning process. Some of my clients are better in two months. Research from Germany has shown that the stricter the diet the longer it takes. It also depends how bad it is in the first place there are new diets and protocols with Ecobalance which I found to work very well with my clients. Please read new protocols. Top
